Attractions

Nestled amid rugged tree covered bluffs, the area offers camping, water, vault toilets, dump station, picnic tables and shelters. Hiking is popular, and a rustic foot bridge across the creek adds charm to a stroll. The 640-acre Keller School Land Wildlife Management Area is nearby.

Nature lovers will find the area a mecca for all types of wildlife, from songbirds to whitetails and an occasional mule deer. During the spring and fall migrations, whispering wings will include ducks, like mallards, teal and shovelers, as well as hawks and may even an eagle or two. Sharp-eyed bird watchers might spot sandhill cranes as they wing overhead, and maybe even one of the rare whooping cranes that stop over on the nearby Niobrara River.
