With more than 36 miles of available trails, Indian Cave State Park is a unique trail system. Cross-country skiing and winter camping make the trail popular year-round. Remote adirondack shelters are located throughout the park for trail users. Horseback riders are also welcome. With hardwood trees similar to those found in the Ozarks, this area becomes a stunning rainbow of fall color. Trails range from 3/4 to 7 miles and wind up and down hill. They can be quite strenuous, since the very things that make this rugged area so picturesque can also require a lot of stamina in the hiker. Equestrian riders also have an area to camp. At the head of the horse trail there is water and open space to camp. Equestrians have almost 10 miles of trails. Bike riders are permitted on all of the trails. Again, the trails wind up and down hill and one should be prepared for strenuous ride.
