Congratulations to Roxanne Smith, tourism supervisor at the Capitol, winner of the 2009 "Name the Chicks" contest. The names chosen are Nemaha, Niobrara, Platte, and Calamus. The chicks are named after four Nebraska rivers. Read the news release.

A nest box was built and installed outside the 18th floor of the Capitol building in Lincoln to encourage nesting. A video camera was installed at the top of the Capitol to monitor the falcon nesting activities. At this time, the camera is in place and feeding live video to both a television monitor in the Capitol rotunda and the NGPC website.
This project was funded from the Commission's Nebraska Wildlife Conservation Fund with assistance from the Office of the Capitol Commission, the State Building Division, the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
